The number of license seats attributable to each license is calculated based on the applicable license type as follows:
- Named device licenses: 1 token counts as 1 license seat.
- Floating device licenses: 1 token counts as 3 license seats.
- Named user licenses: 1 user counts as 1 license seat.
- Floating user licenses: 1 user counts as 3 license seats.
Floating limitations: Each floating limitation unit assigned to a license counts as 3 additional license seats. Floating limitation units are counted separately and in addition to the license seats attributable to the underlying license. Where a license contains multiple floating limitations, the units of each floating limitation are counted separately. Examples:
- A named device license with 1 tokens and
- a floating limitation of 5 units
- a second floating limitation of 4 units
- counts as 28 license seats: 1 seat for the tokens, 15 seats for the first floating limitation and 12 seats for the second floating limitation.
- A floating device license with 8 tokens and
- a floating limitation of 5 units
- a second floating limitation of 4 units
- counts as 51 license seats: 24 seats for the tokens, 15 seats for the first floating limitation plus 12 seats for the second floating limitation.
Only active (non-expired) licenses are counted toward the total number of license seats, irrespective of license type.
