Earlier this month, SLASCONE marked its 10-year anniversary, a moment to reflect on how an early vision evolved into a leading European software licensing platform.
When we started SLASCONE ten years ago, we didn’t have a detailed roadmap. We were dealing firsthand with the complexity of software licensing and believed there had to be a more structured and reliable way to manage it. Much of what followed was shaped through trial, feedback, and learning in production.
Growing with Independence
From the very beginning, we made a conscious decision to grow SLASCONE independently. Today, the company proudly remains 100% founder-owned. We operate profitably, without venture capital backing and without any form of debt. This structure allows us to make long-term decisions, stay close to our customers, and invest consistently in our software licensing technology and people.
From day one, we built SLASCONE with an international focus. Today, almost half of our customers are based outside Germany, reflecting the relevance of our platform well beyond our home market.
From Building Features to Running a Mission-Critical Platform
In the early years, our focus was almost entirely on developing new software licensing functionality. It took three major releases before we signed our first real customer. Those early versions were, of course, far from perfect, but they taught us the importance of getting the foundations right before scaling.
Today, SLASCONE operates a mission-critical software licensing platform, reliably handling more than two million licensing API calls every day with a proven availability of 99.95%. Platform stability, performance, and security are core responsibilities. Our technology is modern, scalable, and secure, and in 2025 we achieved ISO 27001 certification, formalizing the standards we apply to protecting customer data at scale.
Equally essential is world-class support. For our customers, licensing is business-critical, and support is not just an add-on but a core part of the product. This focus is reflected in the excellent reviews we receive on platforms such as Capterra, which consistently highlight reliability, support quality, and ease of use.
The People Behind the Scenes
SLASCONE is built by a team focused on engineering quality and operational reliability, primarily based in Germany, while remote work capabilities also enable contributions from Greece, Spain and Italy ☀️. We are also grateful to former colleagues whose contributions, ideas, and hard work helped shape the foundation we continue to build on today. Even if their paths have since taken them elsewhere, their impact remains part of SLASCONE.
